Kym Latter’s artworks are highly original and create unexpected figures from unlikely materials. Her sculptures characteristically involve a wide use of texture and striking colour combined with recycled and unconventional materials that would normally be thrown away into landfill.
“Using reclaimed materials from household waste, roadsides, op-shops and recycling centres forces inventiveness to transform them into something artistic and beautiful,” she says. “This encourages a shift in perception for the viewer about waste and consumerism.”
Kym was born and raised in regional Queensland, and now lives on the Fraser Coast, SE Queensland, Australia.
